The proposal would shift our leadership structure form a "council model" to a "leadership team" model. The advantages of this switch would be that 1) it allows us to put more time and energy into ministry activity rather than into meetings and management; 2) it allows the church to respond more quickly and effectively to new ministry opportunities; 3) it allows people to focus on their areas of ministry gifting rather than on the tasks of administration and leadership; 4) it streamlines the decision-making, planning, and evaluation processes; and 5) it helps to diversify leadership and to raise up new leaders.
More information on the rationale and reasons for this proposed change can be found in the attached file (Pastor Luke's presentation at the Annual Meeting).
This proposal is backed by the Church Council and by Pastor Luke. We encourage you to take time to look through the presentation and proposed constitution attached below. If you have any questions or concerns or would like to discuss the proposed changes with anyone, you may contact Pastor Luke at the church or talk to any other Council member.
We will continue to discuss this proposal at our congregational meetings until it is raised for a vote at our next Annual Meeting in November 2015 or January 2016.
