Questionable folk are coming in the doors wearing jeans and t-shirts, those hooligan youths are playing that "music" again, the rules aren’t being respected. (Someone might have even spilled a cup of coffee on the sanctuary floor!) It all started when that Jesus character came in here and started upsetting "the way we've always done it," throwing our traditions and sense of decorum out the window. And the religious leaders are mad.
If we are going to be good stewards of the Good News...if we are going to be good tenants who produce fruit for the Kingdom of God, then we had better get used to the idea that sometimes someone might enter our church who isn’t dressed right, who might smell funny, might cuss once or twice, who may ask uncomfortable questions, who might not know all of the customs and traditions and decorum. But those are the folks that Jesus invited in.
This week's sermon...from Matthew 21:23-46.
