Sure, we say we want all people to know Jesus, but when it comes down to it, do our words and our actions truly reflect that desire? Do our words and actions demonstrate hospitality toward any and every person we encounter? Do our words and actions invite others in, give them an opportunity to participate in the redemptive community of God’s People, no matter what place they’re starting from? Do we offer words of welcome, of love, of peace, of healing…or do we, like Jonah, proclaim imminent destruction: “Forty more days until God does you in because of x, y, or z! Because you’re this kind of person…” Do we simply do the bare minimum that we think will mean we’ve done our part, that we've done what God asks of us?
