Jesus' disciples sometimes got a little confused about this. They expected God’s Kingdom to look just like earthly kingdoms, with the same power structures and competition and politics and intrigue. But in God’s Kingdom power, leadership, and greatness are exercised as selfless service to others. That’s the foundation: we give of ourselves for others because we are made in the image of the God who gave himself for us and poured himself out for us.
So how will we selflessly serve our neighbors, our community, our city? How will we bless and seek the good of the place in which we find ourselves?
This week's sermon...from Matthew 20:20-18 and John 13:1-17.
