What Jesus’ promise does mean is that his yoke is a good yoke, a better yoke, a kind and forgiving yoke. He steers us gently, guiding us in ways that bring life, turning our labor into something fruitful and good that strengthens us and builds God’s Kingdom. And Jesus promises that his burden is a manageable burden, one that God gives us the strength to carry a long, long way. It’s the burden of a weighty calling on our lives, the burden of being a blessing to the world. That’s the burden we carry.
